It’s an Honor Just to Be Nominated

October 31, 2013

Dear Readers,

I was nominated for a blog award back on September 16. However, I have yet to post it. I could go into explanations as to why, but I think I will just publicly thank and humbly apologize to Amy at My Top Fives…  , a way cool chick who nominated me for my very first blog award.  Thank you, Amy.  Check out her blog, My Top Fives… and you can check out other bloggers she nominated, here:

Thank you.

Thank you.

One reason I began following Amy’s blog is because she’s never met an ellipsis she didn’t like…I like a girl who knows her way around a punctuation mark.  I also like the way she looks at everyday and not so everyday things.

Now, for this award, I need to follow these rules…

-Nominees must link back the person who nominated them.

-Answer the 10 questions which are given to them by the nominator.

-Nominate 10 other bloggers for this award who have less than 200 followers.

-Create 10 questions for their nominees to answer.

-Let the nominees know that they have been nominated by going to their blog and notifying them.

Here are the answers to my questions from Amy:

  1. How did you come up with the name for your blog?  I wrote a blog while teaching in the Middle East entitled, My Journey, Thoughts From A Broad.  Unfortunately, I had to shut down all traces of my blog when I came back to the States.  Once back on  American soil, I began writing another blog.  I was a little upset at having to create a whole new blog, and I blurted out, “I should call this one My Fucking Journey.  It dawned on me that had I submitted that title to an editor, s/he would have redacted the ‘F’ word.  Thus, My [redacted] Journey.
  2. What prompted you to start a blog?  Going to teach in the Middle East was the impetus for my blog.  I wanted to keep in touch with family and friends.  Additionally, I knew I would have some hella stories to tell…and I did/do.
  3. What are five of your favourite things?  Easy.  Jessica, Joseph, Stephan, Ana, Emily.
  4. Who do you most admire?  Certified Public School Teachers Grades K-12.  With a special shout out to BATs.
  5. What’s your favourite comfort food?  Anything carby, starchy,
  6. Are you superstitious?  In a , ‘Step on a crack, break your mother’s back,’ kind of way?  Nope.  Or, in a ‘belief that certain events or things will bring good or bad luck,’ kind of way?  Nope to that one as well.  lol
  7. What was your dream job when you were little?  Teacher, baby!  All day everyday.
  8. When’s your birthday and what’s your favourite way to celebrate it?  My birthday is September 27.  No favorite way to celebrate it.
  9. Where is the best place you’ve travelled to?  Guam, definitely Guam.
  10. What have you done today?  Today, I taught my 8th grade students persuasive writing techniques and loved almost every minute of it.

One last thing, dear Readers, the Liebster award was created, in part, to help the blogging community discover new blogs.  So please, enjoy; here are my nominations:

Yes, there are only eight, sorry.

Ok new nominees, here are your questions from me:

1.  Why do you blog?

2.  What inspires you to write?

3.  What is your favorite day of the week and why?

4.  What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?

5.  What kind of music do you like to listen to?

6.  Are you funny?  If yes, please give examples 🙂

7.  Boxers or briefs?

8.  How would you like to be remembered?

9.  Wisdom or youth?

10.  If you could have a conversation with a teacher from your past, who would it be and what would you say?

Well, dear Readers, that’s it.  I hope you have enjoyed my [redacted] journey.  I look forward to many more posts to come.

  1. Thanks for the plug, I appreciate it. Barry. Answers: I enjoy blogging, I get a thought in my head and write about it, any day I am breathing, resting in a pine box, the theme from Peter Gunn, I try to be, how did the engineer get his locomotive to go, he chewed gum and said choo choo. , neither, with a fleeting moment, a laugh and good thoughts, wisdom, I would like to talk to Dr. D. good man, with a lot of knowledge, he saw Mussolini.

  2. Hi, thank you so much for this! You made my day. Here are my answers, but first I have a question for you. How do we find out about bloggers that have less than 200 followers? I would love to know so I can support the newbies like myself. Here’s my answers:
    1. Because I write in my head all day long, and if I didn’t have a place to put it all my brain would explode.
2.Life, anything that is funny or touching. The newspaper, the television, books etc.
3 Sunday, going to church gives me strength to get through the rest of the week.
4.Probably still working at the library – I love my job and wil be there till I drop. I hope to have a few published books under my belt by then too.
5 Not a lot, most of my drive time is spent listening to books. I love Celtic music though, and my favorite opera singer – Bryn Terfel, just released a Christmas C.D, which I’m excited about.
    6. Hmmm, I fall down a lot.
    8. I’d like to be remembered as someone who loved her freinds and family, who didn’t speak ill of others. As someone who was honest and spoke up for little guys, and who wrote great and inspiring works of fiction. Good luck with that last one.
9.I’ve often thought it would be nice to go back and do my teenage years over with the wisdom I have now, but I don’t think I could stand to be my teenage self again, not to mention hang out with my crazy teenage friends. I’ll stick with wisdom.
10.I would love to talk to Mrs. Shaffert, my third grade teacher, and tell her how much I loved the afternoons she spent reading the Laura Ingalls Wilder, Little House series to us. That sparked my love for reading and I’ve never looked back.

    • Thank you for the response. Ha! I love your answers, especially #6 😉 As for #7, I like that you have lofty goals and don’t sell yourself short…I would read a book of your inspiring fiction. As for finding blogs that had less than 200 followers….hmmmmm…I don’t know! As it was, I only picked 8; I guess that means I should follow more blogs?
Good luck on your writings and thank you for sharing your writings.

  3. Me again, I’ll get the rest of this done pretty soon.

  5. Calling all new bloggers. I’m making a list of new bloggers, (anyone with less than 200 followers) so we can find and support each other. If you’re interested send your URL and I’ll include you on the post. No responsibilities, just a chance to make more firends.

  6. Thanks for the nomination!! Enjoyed reading your responses. I’m a bit like you and will have to take some time to complete this. I’ll be sure to link back to you so you can see my answers 🙂
